6 Inch Flap Disc

The Type 29 Angled Flip Disc has a phenolic backing for reinforcement and an unthreaded round hole for attaching to abrasive tools and works well on curved surfaces. Zirconia Aluminum Abrasives are stronger and more durable than Aluminum Oxide for fast material removal speeds and powerful grinding. Applications include weld blending, deburring, hair removal, edge chamfering, stock removal, and grinding and finishing. The disc has a beveled shape for maximum workpiece contact and is typically used with right angle grinders at 15 to 35 degree angles. It has an unthreaded round hole for attaching to grinding tools. The shaft of the tool is fastened through a central hole in the disc.

Abrasive flip discs are made from laminated coated abrasives attached to the hub. They help reduce finishing time and cost by grinding and dressing (such as removing weld beads and smoothing weld workpieces) in the same step. The flip discs are coated, which means that an adhesive is used to attach the abrasive grains to a paper, plastic or cloth backing. The function of the flip disc is similar to that of a sand disc: the surface of the disc is ground or polished. They are used in a variety of applications, from shaping sections to fine polishing, depending on the grit size. A low grit number like 40 is coarser (fewer grains, bigger) and removes excess material and shape parts. A 400 contour grit number is nice (with more, smaller grains) and helps create a smooth finish
