Classification of sandpaper
In practice, the classification of sandpaper is not uniform.
Sponge sandpaper
Suitable for grinding smooth parts, all kinds of materials can be used. Sponge sandpaper sanding technology has the characteristics of high production efficiency, good surface quality and low production cost, so it is widely used in furniture production. The final surface quality of furniture products is closely related to sanding technology. Sponge sandpaper is the main tool of sanding process.
Dry abrasive paper
Dry sanding paper uses synthetic resin as a binder to bond silicon carbide abrasives onto latex, and is coated with an antistatic coating to make high-end products. It has the advantages of anti blocking, anti static, good softness, and high wear resistance. Various fineness can be selected, suitable for polishing metal surface, putty and coating. The dry sanding paper is generally made of special kraft paper and latex paper, natural and synthetic resin as binder, and is manufactured by advanced high-electrostatic sanding technology. This product has high grinding efficiency and is not easy to stick chips, and is suitable for dry grinding. It is widely used in furniture, decoration and other industries, especially rough grinding.
Abrasive paper
Also known as water resistant abrasive paper or water resistant abrasive paper, it is named because it can be immersed or polished in water during use. Water resistant abrasive paper is a kind of abrasive tool made of water resistant paper or treated water resistant paper as the substrate, paint or resin as the binder, and corundum or silicon carbide abrasive is firmly adhered to the substrate, with two shapes: leaf shaped and roll shaped. According to abrasive, it can be divided into: brown corundum abrasive paper; White corundum abrasive paper; Silicon carbide abrasive paper; Zirconia abrasive paper, etc. According to the binder, it can be divided into: ordinary binder sandpaper; Resin adhesive sandpaper. [2]
The texture of the abrasive paper is fine. The abrasive paper is suitable for polishing something with fine texture and is suitable for post-processing; The gap between the sand grains of abrasive paper is small, and the ground debris is also small. When used with water, the debris will flow out with water, so it should be used with water. If the abrasive paper is used dry, the debris will remain in the gap between the sand grains, making the surface of the abrasive paper shiny and thus unable to achieve its original effect, while the dry abrasive paper is not so troublesome, The gap between its sand particles is large, and the ground particles are also large. In the process of grinding, the ground particles will fall down due to the large gap, so it does not need to be used with water.
