Abrasive particles of abrasive belt
Abrasive grains on abrasive belt have stronger cutting ability than abrasive grains of grinding wheel, so its grinding efficiency is very high. The high efficiency of abrasive belt grinding is reflected in its high cutting rate, grinding ratio (the ratio of cutting workpiece weight to abrasive wear weight) and machine tool power utilization. By 2012, the known removal rate of abrasive belt grinding on steel has reached 700mm3/mm · s, even exceeding that of turning or milling. The grinding ratio of abrasive belt is much higher than that of grinding wheel, up to 300:1, even 400:1, while the grinding wheel is only 30:1. The power utilization rate of abrasive belt grinding machine has reached 80% in the early stage of abrasive belt grinding development, which is ahead of other machine tools, and now is as high as 96%. In contrast, abrasive belt grinding machine is only 52%, milling machine 57%, and lathe 65%, so abrasive belt grinding is still a good energy-saving processing technology.
